As a Kitchen Porter (KP), you play a vital role in maintaining the efficiency and hygiene of our kitchen environment. Reporting to all chefs within the kitchen, your responsibilities encompass a diverse range of tasks including the following:
Basic food preparation
Washing up, cleaning, and clearing all kitchen areas
Unloading and putting away deliveries
Emptying bins, sweeping, and mopping floors
Ensuring all equipment is clean and put away correctly
Deep cleaning fridges and storerooms to maintain sanitary and kitchen safety standards
Level 1 Food Safety Award
Awareness of manual handling techniques
Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
Experience with kitchen equipment
Basic understanding of English
Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award
Level 2 Food Safety Awards
Experience or training in using dangerous equipment such as knives
Any relevant experience in a commercial kitchen environment
Basic food preparation skills, such as vegetable preparation
Understanding of kitchen equipment
Understanding of cleaning kitchen equipment
Understanding of cleaning kitchen areas and surfaces
Ability to prepare and clear food service
Knowledge of kitchen health and safety
Knowledge of food hygiene practices
Good oral communication
